Duncan Halliday

Head Snowboard & Ski Guide

Full Carte Professional, Certified ISTD

Duncan grew up in Scotland learning from an early age to climb the extensive range of Munro’s, the local mountains peaks of the Scottish Highlands and Lowlands.  He graduated from Edinburgh with a degree in Geology where he also was a successful president of the surf club.

Beyond university, his aspirations focused on leading in an alpine environment in winter and surfing in summer. Duncan followed his passion for the outdoors and moved to the west coast of Ireland to set up Narosa Life. His desire for mountaineering, climbing, backcountry snowboarding and skiing led him to the French Alps. In the big mountains of the Savoie valley, he was able to hone his guiding skills and complete his qualifications enabling him to share his passion and expertise of travelling in the mountains.

Duncan was drawn to the powder mecca of Hokkaido both recreationally and professionally. The mountains are alive in the winter and Duncan’s passion is to share the grandeur and excitement.  Duncan continues to spend his years surfing waves in summer and making waves of powder in winter.

Duncan has an infectious enthusiasm for riding powder, yet humble and professional demeanour with an excellent mountain sense that will serve you well when it matters most.  When not guiding he can be found sports climbing, swimming and even surfing in the cold local waters.
