Surf School Terms and Conditions

We aim to provide a relaxed experience for families and groups alike. To ensure the maximum enjoyment of your experience and that of all our other customers, and to ensure the good management of the Surf School and for the benefit of all who use it, the following terms and conditions are in place and these form the agreement between us for your participation in a surf or SUP experience with Narosa.

In these terms & conditions, the expression “you”/”your” means the customer participating in a surf or SUP experience, and the expression “we”/”us”/”our” means the surf school owner and/or manager. The expression “children” means persons from the age of 6 years to 17 years.

We reserve the right to ask customers who contravene these terms & conditions or the surf school rules or, who in any other way are behaving in a manner likely to cause distress or nuisance to us or to any other visitors or customers of ours, to leave the Surf School immediately. In these circumstances the experience will cease, and we shall not be liable for any extra costs incurred by you and no refund will be given.

2 Arrival & Departure

2.1 Dunfanaghy Surf School Bookings

Customers must check in 45 minutes before the lesson is due to start. For example, if a lesson is booked for 10:00am, customers must arrive at the Dunfanaghy surf shop at 09:15am, to collect a wetsuit and receive directions to the teaching beach on that day, where you will meet your instructor..

Please note that transportation to the beach is not provided, and customers are responsible for making their own way to the beach for their lesson.

At the end of the lesson, customers are responsible for returning their wetsuit, boots and any other equipment belonging to Narosa, to the instructors at the beach. Please note that any equipment not returned will incur a fee.

Customers are free to leave the beach at the end of their lesson, and are not required to return to the surf shop.

2.2 Magheraroarty Surf School Bookings

Customers must check in 15 minutes before the lesson is due to start. For example, if a lesson is booked for 10:00am, customers must arrive at the Magheraroarty surf shop at 09:45am, to collect a wetsuit.

Customers will meet their instructor at the Magheraroarty Surf Shop, and walk to the beach at the start of the lesson.

At the end of the lesson, customers will walk back to the Magheraroarty Surf Shop with their instructor, which is where the lesson will end.

3 Lateness Policy

Lateness is disruptive to instructors and other customers, and we ask customers to please ensure that they leave plenty of travel time when attending surf or SUP experiences.

Customers who arrive at the surf or SUP experience up to 15 minutes after the confirmed start time of the experience, will still be permitted to join, however with the understanding that there will be no monetary compensation or time extension offered.

Customers who arrive at the surf or SUP experience more than 15 minutes after the confirmed start time of the experience will not be permitted to join, and no refund or compensation shall be provided.

Any rescheduling or transferring of bookings due to customer lateness is entirely at the discretion of management.

4 Cancellation Policy

4.1 Cancellation of the booking by you

Activities rescheduled or cancelled less than 48 hours in advance will not be eligible for a refund or alternative time slot, and will incur a full charge.

Any rescheduling or transferring of bookings due to customer cancellation is entirely at the discretion of management.

4.2 Cancellation of the booking by us

If we are unable to provide the booked activity and have to cancel before the activity is due to start, you are entitled to a full refund of the money you have paid.

If the activity or service is unable to proceed due to closure you are entitled to a full refund of the money you have paid.

If you are ejected from the activity for a breach of one of the terms and conditions or surf school rules, no refund will be payable.

4.3 Cancellation of the activity due to adverse weather conditions

From time to time, it might be necessary to cancel or postpone activities due to high winds or other operational reasons. In this instance customers will be offered an alternative time slot.

If adverse weather such as lightning or high winds necessitate us to stop water activities for a period on short notice, customers either on the water or who are not able to start their activity will receive credit on their Narosa account or a voucher to be used on a future date.

5 Rental Policy

We want all of our customers to have the best possible experience with surfing. With that in mind we first and foremost recommend surfing lessons. The benefits of this are huge in your development of good technique and gaining water confidence. Our expert instructors will make this process hugely enjoyable. We will take the hassle out of equipment transportation and when and where to go for the best surf conditions.

That said if you have a good level of previous experience and you do not wish to take an advanced lesson, we can offer an equipment rental to you under the following conditions.

  • You go to the recommended beach according to conditions recommended by Narosa surf school.
  • You fall under the following categories of surfer:
    • Regular surfer who has forgotten equipment
    • Surfer unable to travel with part of equipment and have organised rental before travel
    • Trailing of equipment before purchase
    • Regular customer practicing between surf sessions or someone who has taken lessons elsewhere under similar circumstances.

Please note that surfing in Northwest Ireland without a good level of experience can be challenging. We regularly have large swells and high wind speeds which our team has decades of experience operating in. The beaches here are remote, mostly without lifeguards and there can be days where you will be alone in the water. We aim to give you guys the best possible experience hence why we would prefer to teach you or at very least ensure you’re going to the right spot at the right time for your level.
