How to Pack for your Glamping Pod Surf Staycation

How to Pack for your Glamping Pod Surf Staycation
April 12, 2021 Harriet Henderson

With most of us looking close to home for our summer holidays again this year, we’re taking the opportunity to think outside the box when it comes to planning a staycation. Secluded locations, stunning scenery and quirky hideaways are top of our list, and we’re always on the lookout for a great getaway spot.

In 2020 we were stoked to build 2 wooden Glamping Pods which are nestled at the top of the garden at Narosa HQ. Located opposite the beach and right in the town of Dunfanaghy, they’re the perfect spot for a surf trip with buddies, a romantic weekend escape or girls getaway to the coast.

Perhaps you’ve never considered a Glamping surf trip before, or maybe you’re just looking for some wanderlust inspiration. We thought we’d share a few tips when it comes to prepping for your trip, and give you the ultimate kit list guide:

Swimsuit & beach towel. With some of Ireland’s most beautiful beaches on your doorstep, a surf lesson has got to be top of your list. If you’ve got a wetsuit & surfboard bring them along too, but we’ve got all the gear you need here. For the cold water fans, a morning dip in the Atlantic is also a must.

Flip flops. Your self contained Pod gives you the true back to nature camping experience by offering up the traditional short walk to the bathroom, which is where slip on footwear will come in handy. You’ll find newly built hot showers await you, soft white towels and a hair dryer all of your own.

Yoga mat. With your own private decking and a view primed for sunset, this spot is crying out for an evening yoga flow.

Camera, Go-Pro & chargers. A major perk of glamping over camping is access to electricity! With plenty of sockets in your Pod, there’s ample room to charge up all your devices so you can keep capturing those epic moments out on the water and up in the hills.

Slippers. Our Pods are constructed from a beautiful soft wood, so it’s best if the mud stays outside. Leave your shoes at the door and keep your feet happy in some nice warm indoor footwear. Perfect to make the space your home from home.

Drinks flask. You’ll find delicious coffee and a French press in your Pod, so a flask for your day’s adventures is a must. During our peak season you can top up in our on site coffee bar, Captain’s at Narosa, with speciality brews and treats to go.

A cosy hoodie. When the summer evenings cool and we’re seated around the fire pit, you’ll definitely be glad of something warm to layer up in. Your Pod is fully heated so it’s always warm when you retreat inside. You can check out our Narosa hoodies here for inspiration!

Hiking gear.  With the Derryveagh Mountains as your backdrop, it won’t be long before you’re tempted up Muckish, Errigal or one of their smaller ‘Sisters’.

We hope we’ve inspired you to head to the coast and experience the sensation of waking up to the sound of the ocean, and watching the sun set as you turn in for the night after an invigorating day in the waves. There’s truly nothing better.
